Special Counsel - Analyst eDiscovery I - Remote

This would be an entry level opportunity that requires a successful candidate to learn the nuances of eDiscovery, litigation support, and all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM).  This role would be responsible for managing the ticketing queue within Special Counsel’s proprietary project management system with requests submitted from both internal and external clients. Responsible for assisting eDiscovery Project Managers to coordinate project requirements with Consultants, Solutions Sales and/or other Litigation Support Analysts and Operations teams in order to establish discovery plans, project specifications, and/or administer hosted solution plans within Special Counsel’s multiple document hosting platforms. This role will be trained to operate various eDiscovery review applications, how to learn to perform complex searches across large data sets and work with internal colleagues in the delivery of our services.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Relativity workspace administration. Creating new workspaces, creating/editing views, layouts, choices, and/or fields.
  • Creating or modifying dtSearch or Analytics indexes.
  • Securing permissions in the workspace for new/active users.
  • Providing Relativity training for internal and external users.
  • Creating complex searches.
  • Creating/modifying batch sets, batches, batch searches.
  • Creating/updating/running Search Term Reports and Persistent Highlighting sets.
  • Vetting search terms for correct syntax.
  • Pre-Production conflict checks. Including but not limited to: Tagging documents for production, creating exclusionary searches to remove privilege documents, and creating search for production population.
  • Running Analytics (Brainspace/Relativity Analytics). This will include, but not limited to, Email Threading, Near Dupe Creation, Repeated Content, Categorization, and Clustering.
  • Running standard and complex document productions.
  • Works with Operations colleagues and/or Litigation Support Project Managers to help develop procedures and workflows that improve the overall level of service for our clients.
  • Gains/maintains knowledge of legal industry and legal technology by working with eDiscovery Project Managers, attending vendor product briefings/training sessions, reviewing professional publications and by attending industry sponsored events/webinars.
  • Understands the necessary internal operations workflow requirements for each service offering, so project specifications match client requirements/needs.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by management
  • Needs to be available during off-hours, when needed, so flexibility is necessary.
  • This position has a minimum billable target of 40% utilization based on 2,100 worked hours annually (840 billable hours per year).


Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:


  • Candidates must have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; one to three years related experience and/or training in the litigation support industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Law firm, eDiscovery vendor or strong customer services experience a must. Overall understanding of the EDRM model and FRCP focused on eDiscovery.
  • Experience with hosted review platform(s) and/or data processing software is desired, but not essential.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements:


  • Desire to provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients is a must.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs (high command of Excel is desired).
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work independently with diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to solve issues.
  • Resourcefulness with an aptitude towards creative problem solving.
  • Ability to organize and manage a task-based ticketing system.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and respond to both internal and external customers in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must. Must be highly organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility with days and hours scheduled will be preferred. This position may be required to handle after-hours requests on an as-needed basis.




  •  Pre-existing E-Discovery certifications are preferred (examples include: Relativity Certified User, Relativity Certified Administrator, Brainspace Analyst, Ipro Certified Administrator, ACEDS, etc.).
  • Relativity Certified User (RCU) must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Lean Master or Six Sigma certifications, preferred.
