Summary: Mid-level position within the Forensics Services Group (FSG). Under the direction of the VP Forensic & Collection SVCS, independently conduct simple and complex onsite and remote data collections. Conduct forensic imaging, research, evidence and media tracking, equipment testing and validation as well as intermediate forensic analysis.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Travel to client locations and conduct basic and complex collection of electronically stored information (ESI) from workstations, networks, mobile devices, email systems, cloud-based repositories and other systems exercising independent judgment when appropriate;
  • Conduct basic and complex remote data collection of ESI exercising independent judgment when appropriate;
  • Follow D4 FSG’s established policies and procedures to preserve, collect, process and analyze ESI;
  • Follow D4 FSG’s established policies and procedures to fully document the collection of ESI for client engagements;
  • Perform digital forensic analysis with some supervision;
  • Handle management and shipping of evidence and other work-related items;
  • Create reports and documentation;
  • Consult with and take direction from supervisors, engagement managers, and clients regarding project scope, case investigations and status;
  • Provide basic support for project scoping, planning and execution;
  • Provide consultative services to clients as needed.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office software; internet software; eDiscovery software; computer forensic software; and computer hardware. Experience with EnCase, FTK or other forensic software is required. Experience with MacOS, iOS, and Linux operating systems required.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in computer science or digital forensics; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Training: Computer forensics and ESI collection

Certificates and Licenses: 

  • CCE, CFCE, ENCE, ACE, and MSCE certifications a plus
  • Litigation support certification a plus
